Despite being highly disruptive and damaging, cyber attacks have never officially been related to human casualties. Acts of cyber warfare or cyber terrorism have been considered the main vectors able to cause direct or indirect harm to people. Nevertheless, terrorist or war threats coming from cyberspace didn’t result in acts of violence against human beings yet. Cybercrime in the form of ransomware attacking healthcare institutions represents the first filed cases in the U.S and Germany where the interruption of health services by cyber-attacks allegedly caused the death of two infants.
